Preparing Dinner at the NIH Children’s Inn

Preparing Dinner at the NIH Children’s Inn, Bethesda, MD

This month, our DMV-area team had the privilege of volunteering at the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where we prepared and cooked meals for families staying at the facility.

The Children’s Inn provides a “place like home” for families of children who are receiving treatment at NIH. For many, it is a safe haven during an incredibly difficult time, offering comfort and support when it is needed most.

Our team spent the day in the Inn’s kitchen—chopping, stirring, baking, and plating—so that families could gather around a warm, home-cooked meal without the added stress of cooking during their stay. While the dishes were important, what mattered most was the opportunity to provide a small moment of relief and togetherness for those navigating serious health challenges.
